ARREDALO: VE.PA. PARALLEL-SLIDING PANORAMIC GLAZING FOR A PRIVATE RESIDENCE

11 JULY 2022

Panoramic glazing installed at a private residence in Tortoreto

Sliding panoramic glazing: transform balconies, terraces and covered patios into year-round living spaces

Making the most of an outdoor area is possible with our sliding panoramic glazing systems: elegant, functional solutions that transform terraces, balconies and covered patios into comfortable environments that can be enjoyed throughout the year. The right system provides protection from wind, rain and changing weather conditions, improving comfort and usability without sacrificing natural light or the view.

The project: a sea-view terrace exposed to persistent winds

Our client wanted to make greater use of a sea-view terrace that remained largely impractical for much of the year because of persistent winds. Following a detailed assessment of the setting — including exposure, architectural constraints, dimensions and drainage — we designed and installed a parallel-sliding panoramic glazing system with aluminium tracks and 10 mm extra-clear toughened glass.
The configuration allows the panels to stack neatly one behind another, optimising space, simplifying cleaning and preserving a clean, contemporary appearance.

Technical details that make the difference

10 mm extra-clear toughened glass: excellent transparency, safety and mechanical strength.

Smooth movement along aluminium tracks: reliable operation over time with minimal maintenance.

Transparent silicone seals along the vertical edges of the panels: a refined design detail that preserves the uninterrupted panoramic view while helping to reduce air and water ingress.

Clean, minimal lines and a restrained visual impact, allowing both daylight and the landscape to remain the true protagonists.

It is important to note that panoramic glazing is not equivalent to a traditional window or door system. It does not feature double glazing or the level of airtightness typically associated with thermally broken frames. For this reason, in many cases such installations may fall within the category of works that do not require specific planning permission under Italian regulations. Any applicable landscape or environmental restrictions, condominium rules and local regulations must nevertheless always be verified. This characteristic makes it possible to improve the usability of an outdoor area without changing its designated use.

Working at height and installation to the highest standards

The installation was particularly complex because the terrace is located on the third floor. We therefore developed a dedicated lifting and handling plan for the safe delivery of the glass panels at height, carefully coordinating access, lifting operations and protective measures.
The installation was completed with meticulous attention to detail. A specialist silicone sealant was applied to the most sensitive areas, including beneath the tracks and around junctions, in order to minimise draughts and prevent rainwater ingress. The result is an elegant, durable and highly functional system that enhances the property and delivers a perceptible improvement in comfort from the very first use.

Tangible benefits for everyday living

Protection from the wind and improved thermal comfort.

Extended use of the outdoor area, in both winter and summer.

● Uncompromised daylight and transparency, with a clear and uninterrupted view.

Simple maintenance and components designed for long-term performance.

Conclusion and call to action

For anyone seeking to create a sheltered area protected from the wind and make an outdoor space usable throughout the year, our sliding panoramic glazing systems provide an ideal solution. Every project is developed to measure — from dimensions and drainage details to the final finishes — in order to deliver an installation that is clean, safe and architecturally refined.
